NEW YORK, April 21, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — malean integrated human resources, pension and benefits consulting, technology and administrative services company, today announced that Tonya ManningU.S. Chief Actuary and Head of Wealth Management Practices, appointed to U.S. Department of Labor 2022 Employee Wellbeing and Pensions Advisory Councilalso known as the ERISA Advisory Board.
The 15-member council provides advice on policies and regulations affecting employee benefit plans governed by the Employees Retirement Income Security Act 1974.
Manning has over 30 years of actuarial experience in the area of private and public sector pensions. Prior to joining Buck in 2015, she worked as a political actuary at the United States Department of Treasury where she was involved in activities related to employee welfare and benefit plans, including participating in projects regulators, reviewing ruling applications, and providing technical support and public education.
“Policymakers are increasingly turning to actuaries to share our perspective on how to improve the retirement system, manage risk, and help American workers achieve a more financially sound retirement,” Manning said. “As the U.S. workforce and retirement landscape changes, U.S. policy must do the same to provide retirement security. Manning is also a lecturer at from Columbia University Master’s program in Actuarial Science, where she developed and continues to teach their pension plan course. She is an active volunteer in the actuarial profession, a member of the board of directors of the Actuarial Foundation and has previously served as president of the International Actuarial Association and the Society of Actuaries.
