Public Works Minister CC Patil said a proposal of 3,600 crore for repairing damaged roads in the state had been submitted to the Ministry of Finance for approval. Immediately after approval, repair work will be started, he added.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for Jal Jeevan on Wednesday in Gujamagadi village in Ron taluk of Gadag district, the minister said officials had already been ordered to have roads repaired from the public works department. . The works will be started at the earliest after getting approval from the finance ministry, he said and added that officials should ensure good quality work.
Mr. Patil said that as part of the Prime Minister’s ambitious Jal Jeevan program, works have been started in the village of Gujamagadi and the 395 households in the village will benefit from a direct connection to tap water. “The total cost of the project is 65.36 lakh. The project is implemented in partnership with the public, ”he said.
The minister assured the inhabitants of the village to obtain grants of 10 lakh for a community hall, for which 5 lakh have already been sanctioned. He also promised that he will take measures to clean up the stream that runs through the village and make efforts for the overall development of the village.
Later in the day, the minister launched the work of the Jal Jeevan program in the village of Kuradagi in Ron taluk, where 610 households receive tap water. He told officials to complete the work within two months. He asked them to ensure quality work.
Mr. Patil stressed the need for economical use of water and called on residents to realize the importance of water.
