People can now subscribe to Post Office National Pension Scheme online, an official statement said on Thursday.
The Department of Posts (DoP) provided the National Pension Scheme (NPS-All Citizen Model Scheme), a voluntary Government of India pension scheme operated by the Pension Funds Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA), through its designated post offices since 2010 .”
The Post Office Department is now pleased to begin providing the NPS (All Citizen Model) through the online mode effective April 26, 2022,” the statement read.
Any citizen of India in the age group of 18 to 70 can avail the online facility by visiting the official Indian Post website under the menu heading “National Pension Scheme – Online Services” .
“Facilities such as new registration, initial/subsequent contribution and SIP options under NPS Online are available to customers at minimal charges for all services,” the statement said. The DoP claims to have the lowest NPS service fees.
Subscribers are also eligible for tax deduction in NPS as declared by the Department of Finance from time to time pursuant to sec. 80CCD 1(B).
“This online facility can be used by anyone eligible for NPS without physically visiting a post office and enjoying the hassle-free experience at a minimum fee structure,” the statement reads.
